In this three movement composition my intent is to depict the emotional and spiritual context of a portion of the dialog between the two thieves who were crucified with Christ (Luke:39-42). Wanting to limit myself in this instance to the strictly human element, I have NOT set Jesus' words - something I will attempt in a subsequent companion piece.

Luke 23:39-42 (New International Version)

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
